Over the years we’ve taken video of most year’s displays. However, we’ve been bad at editing the videos and getting them posted to this website. Why is that? Well, for starters, our display is hard to video. In order to do it justice at all, it needs to be videoed from 3 or 4 different camera angles. Then you have to spend a lot of time editing and mixing the videos together, layer in an mp3 audio track, etc. It’s a lot of work.
OK enough excuses to say “we aren’t good at getting current videos posted here.” At least we do have a number of videos from the last couple of years.
2023:
We added a couple new sequences/songs in 2023. Here’s one of them- I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Casting Crowns:
Our second new sequence for 2023 was Angels We Have Heard on High by Jeff Scheetz. This was actually one of the first songs we used when we started animating our disply in 2003, but at some point we stopped using it. 20 years later, we brought it back, with a brand new version sequenced from scratch:
2022:
For 2022, we were able to video a number of different songs from the display with a single camera. Unfortunately the 2022 season was hard on the display, being very snowy and very cold for much of the display run. As such, a few elements were out out or partially out for these videos, and the amount of snow is more than ideal for viewing. But at least we captured a good number of our display songs.
2020:
To solve the “I’m a display guy, not a video editing expert” dilemma, for 2020 we posted these videos in their raw handheld, barely-edited form. Would rather post some “highly produced” ones, but it’s better than nothing, right? 🙂
